The HAWU 4 group tent is suitable for 2-4 people and comes with a completely new design and concept as a modular group tent. The various setup and configuration options make the HAWU one of the most flexible tents on the market. The HAWU from SAVOTTA can be

In addition, the HAWU can be divided into two halves and each half can be used separately as a tarp/loue - ideal if, for example, a troop of e.g. 2 men separates on the way for a few nights and later the group reunites. No poles are needed for the corners and yet the HAWU offers enormous wind stability and optimal space compared to conventional TIPI construction. The HAWU tents are designed to function and provide protection in extreme conditions - both in military and civilian outdoor use. The main focus during development was therefore on the two factors of utility and reliability - the HAWU should always work, under all circumstances!
Design and construction
- Special emphasis was put on making the setup as easy as possible and possible under almost all conditions. e.g. the loops etc. are designed in a way that they can be used with gloves even in very cold conditions.
- In basic concept, each HAWU consists of two halves, which can be used individually as a kind of "loue" tarp. In bad weather, both halves can be connected with a zipper, these are additionally covered with flaps secured by loops. It is also a great advantage when transporting the tent in a backpack to be able to split the weight of the tent.
- No corner poles are needed - the special guy ropes allow quick pitching and effectively tension the HAWU only with the 23 cm steel pegs . Naturally with a Finnish tent development: the HAWU can be set up also with gloves and with storm very fast and simply.
- All HAWU tents have snowflaps, which are ideal in winter - but can also be used to provide greater stability/storm resistance.

- When using a tent stove, we recommend that you leave the tent slightly open in the upper part, in order to bring the moisture outside with the warm air
- inside the tent there are several eyelets on the top to tighten ropes, e.g. to hang up wet clothes.
- For ventilation there are several options. For example, the tent can be opened only in the upper area or entire side areas can be opened.
- The entrance is equipped with a high skirt, this prevents snow from blowing in and you do not need to crawl into the tent. It reduces heat loss when the door is open and is easy to operate with one hand.

Safety and environment
- If you really want to get "lost", this is very easy with the HAWU tent - just pitch it around a tree with wide branches, and not even a helicopter will find you.
- In case you have to leave the tent very quickly, there is a kind of "emergency exit". You simply zip up the zipper that connects the two halves, and with a kind of swimming motion you can leave the tent almost standing up.
Material
- The fabric is almost waterproof and at the same time extremely breathable, but no membrane was used. The fibers in the fabric swell when wet to provide an effective seal against rain without the need for waterproof and poorly breathable coatings.
- Tent skin it is flame retardant and mildew resistant.
- The special fabric is made of four different fibers, two of which are naturally flame retardant. This brings the great advantage of not needing chemical treatment, where the effect would diminish over time.
- The cotton fabric and seams swell when wet - resulting in a quasi-waterproof seal.
- The fabric composition allows an optimal ratio of extremely fast drying time with the best possible weight.
Recommendation for ground pegs and guy ropes:
- One half = 5 ground nails for corner points and 5 ground nails for guy ropes (10 pieces).
- Complete = 8 ground nails for corner points and 8 ground nails for guy ropes (16 pieces).
- Complete with extension = 10 ground nails for corner points and 10 ground nails for guy ropes (20 pieces).
