Bill Rapier is the owner and lead instructor of AMTAC Shooting. He retired after twenty years in the US Navy, where his duty assignments included several years with SEAL Team Three and over fourteen years with the Naval Special Warfare Development Group
In the field of combat techniques, especially pistol combat techniques, mastering transitions is one of the most important aspects. transitions can range from punch to pistol, punch to blade, strike weapon to pistol, etc. Most strong-side holsters are designed to be worn around the four or half-by-four position, which can be very comfortable. While this may be comfortable, Bill prefers to wear holsters a little further forward around the waist. The FO3 holster is designed to be worn just forward of the three o'clock position on the strong side.
Instead of wings extending on either side of the holster, the front clip of the FO3 is permanently attached to the KYDEX® body. There is a modified wing that extends from the back of the holster and provides flexibility. This reduces the holster's footprint, allowing it to be worn in front of three o'clock, while the leather piece allows the holster to move with the wearer, maximizing comfort. Bill Rapier has found that this is the best compromise between draw speed and gun safety for him. This allows him to carry the pistol comfortably, draw quickly and securely lock the weapon in place during a disarming attempt. If necessary, one can still rotate his hips to create the space needed to draw his firearm in tight spaces.
This holster is the result of countless hours of training and collaboration with the BlackPoint Tactical Team.
In addition to the snug fit of a Kydex holster, the FO3 features adjustable draw resistance, a medium-height sweat guard and 2 X 1.75'' (44mm) belt clips.
